Salesforce Agentforce
Agent platform tied to Salesforce customer data and workflows across revenue and service.
What it is
Salesforce publishes several Agentforce buying models, including Flex Credits, conversations and employee add-ons. Foundations is listed at $0; that does not make every deployed action or related data service free. [V1] [V2]
Promoted use cases
- Execute CRM-grounded service actions
- Assist sales and revenue teams
- Deploy customer-facing conversational agents
Suite-native agents inherit an established environment of records, permissions, business rules and human work. Their advantage can be operational proximity rather than model intelligence. Their constraint can be the cost and complexity of crossing suite boundaries. A separate platform earns its place only if the missing workflow is important enough to support another operating layer.
Pricing and buying model
$500 / 100,000 Flex Credits
Standard action: 20 credits, or $0.10. Conversation pricing at $2 is an alternative model.
Check current commercial source ↗Budget for implementation, model and tool usage, data, human review and ongoing support. Credit units and outcome definitions differ between vendors. A missing numeric rate is marked unverified rather than replaced with an old third-party estimate.
Collaboration and governance
Ask how action authorization, escalation and audit map to existing Salesforce permissions. Include Data 360 and other metered services in the estimate.
The relevant unit of control is permission to change a business record or trigger customer communication. Inspect who can propose, approve, execute, interrupt and audit that action. Shared seats, shared content and a shared live agent session are different capabilities; require a demonstration of the one your process needs.
Evaluate memory correction, permission revocation and release control for updated instructions. An improvement loop should preserve the original evidence, proposed change, test results and named approver. A safety or security badge alone cannot establish those workflow properties.
Review and customer evidence
A G2 video-review page exposes one critical review by Jonathan F. questioning use-case breadth and ROI. This is one visible reviewer, not a representative sample. No aggregate rating is asserted. Salesforce’s own G2 award page is vendor-hosted evidence.
Before relying on a testimonial, confirm the exact product, version, package, workload and baseline. Ask a relevant customer about setup effort, failed cases, ongoing manual work and support after launch. This dossier does not convert customer logos or vendor-hosted awards into independent proof.
Focused feature documentation
Agentforce sales scope and licensing
Salesforce documents sales subagents and actions for opportunity management and related seller tasks. Its licensing FAQ says some user-based AI permissions appear only with applicable Agentforce sales or service add-ons or Agentforce 1 editions. A product demonstration therefore cannot establish what a buyer’s current Salesforce contract includes.
Separate configured CRM action rights, data access and the billable entitlement. Ask for a demonstration using the intended edition and a costed set of sales and service scenarios, with the agent’s action record attached to the actual customer or opportunity change.
Salesforce completed its acquisition of Fin on 10 September 2026. Fin is a separately described customer-agent offer alongside Agentforce in the Salesforce portfolio. A buyer comparing them should ask for product-level licensing and integration details rather than assuming their prices or workflows have already merged.
Salesforce Help says Agentforce integrates with the Einstein Trust Layer: prompts, responses and trust signals can be logged in Data 360; action access depends on Salesforce licenses, permission sets, field security and the Flow or Apex implementation. The same help page explicitly says data masking through the Trust Layer is disabled for agents. A buyer should inspect actual logging, retention and sensitive-field controls in the chosen configuration instead of reading the broad Trust Layer label as automatic masking. Service agents can use instructions for escalation, while SDR agents have administrator-defined engagement conditions for starting work and sending email. These documented controls need a configuration-specific test of one inbound handoff and one outbound send.

Fit, limitations and proof requests
Agentforce has a natural advantage where Salesforce is the system of record and workflow owner. A separate platform needs to justify added operational complexity through measurable flexibility or delivery value.
Priority question: Give a trace and bill for one real workflow, including retries, data retrieval and all billable actions.
The evaluation owner should be the CRM or business-application owner. Use correctly completed customer workflows as the business target. Judge the solution in its own stack role: a cloud runtime, a specialist production tool and a managed AI team can be complementary purchases.
Use-case evaluation plan
A lead becomes a governed opportunity
Give the agent a new lead with an existing account, a territory rule, a suppression flag and an open opportunity. Ask it to recommend an owner, draft a response and propose CRM changes. The test should reveal whether the agent understands existing state or simply creates more records and activity.
Measure: duplicate records, routing accuracy, accepted updates and time to first useful response.
Campaign and service context converge
Use a customer currently receiving marketing messages who also has an unresolved service issue. Ask the workflow to adjust the planned contact and route the case to its human owner. Require a clear explanation of which customer state and permission rule influenced the decision.
Measure: contact-policy consistency, service context retention and incorrect sends.
Extend beyond the native application
Select one workflow that must use a system outside the suite, such as an external content repository or a separate customer portal. Test identity propagation, write permissions and failure recovery across the boundary. Measure integration ownership as well as the agent’s apparent intelligence.
Measure: integration effort, successful handoffs and recoverable failures.
